Résumé
Modern Brillouin spectrometers now allow imaging single cells with a micrometer resolution, with the promise of directly resolving viscoelastic properties of living matter in 3D and in a noncontact, label-free and high-resolution fashion. The data obtained from BLS experiments in cells were initially interpreted as the response of an underlying elastic network of biopolymers. Subsequent works later pointed out that water content also plays a crucial role in the response of biorelevant hydrogels. Here we show that the coordinated response of biopolymer network and intracellular fluids can lead to intricate non-linear acoustic behavior.
