Imaging and identifying material properties using X-ray and tomographic images from an new X-ray stereo tomograph.
This post-doc opportunity is part of the exploratory Diadem PEPR project. This major project is co-piloted by CNRS and CEA, in partnership with several major French universities (Université Paris-Saclay, Sorbonne Université, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, Université Grenoble-Alpes, Université de Lorraine, Université de Bordeaux and INSA de Lyon). Its aim is to accelerate the design and market launch of higher-performance, more durable materials and parts, using innovative methodologies aided in particular by artificial intelligence.
In this context, the MatéIS (INSA-Lyon) and LMPS (ENS Paris-Saclay) laboratories are proposing an in-situ tomographic mechanical experimentation demonstrator. At the heart of this work is the rapid identification of material properties and the monitoring of their evolution under load using imaging methods. The ambition is to carry out very rapid mechanical tests (compared with the state of the art) in an innovative tomography device, with dual source and dual detector, recently received by the MatéIS laboratory.
For example, 4D imaging based on on-the-fly X-ray acquisitions (P-DVC), developed by LMPS, can speed up test completion times. The present study is therefore part of a dynamic process of instrumental and imaging development. Field measurements, for their part, have enabled quantitative analysis of these tests, including in 3D thanks to DVC.
